Seeking a new home in the 2000 block of East Burnside Street, Meat for Cats and Dogs, a locally owned pet food and supply store, commissioned Dominek Architecture to design and develop a 5,500 sf multi-tenant building in the Downtown Portland neighborhood. Large, vibrant windows in the facades are framed by stucco elements, visually emphasizing and offsetting the more traditionally clad building. The restrictive urban infill site required creative use of the existing structure as a foundational base for the new building, including reuse of concrete slabs and CMU walls.
