Preliminary concepts for this pre-k education center in NE Portland along the MLK Jr. Blvd corridor. While the final design was primarily clad in stucco and dark-stained wood planks, early concepts explored more unique cladding within the rigid massing. Splashes of bright color enhance the pedestrian level experience for the children and visiting parents. The massing also addresses the unique egress challenges of a pre-k childcare facility on a narrow urban lot.
